Will a DDR3 video card work in a Gateway GM5478?

I'm wondering if a GeForce 9600 DDR3 video card will work in a Gateway GM5478 PC.

Its current video card is a GeForce 8500 GT which is DDR2, and I don't know if there's enough difference between DDR2 and DDR3 that it wouldn't work.

You can use ddr, ddr2,ddr3, ddr4, or ddr5 on the graphics card with your motherboard. It is the system ram that installs on the motherboard you have to be selective about.

Now for the DDR speeds of graphics cards, the higher the DDR number the faster of coarse...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… Go ahead and get that card. About the exact same price and free shipping. You only need a 400W psu to get by on... You will be much happier...|||DDR2 is your system RAM (installed on the Motherboard).

GDDR3/GDDR2 Video RAM (VRAM) is the Memory that is installed on your Graphics Card. If you're a gamer then you should purchase a Graphics Card that uses GDDR3 Video RAM or newer.

Two different things.

Just make sure you have a Power supply that can handle the upgrade that you're looking to perform.|||Yes, but ur wrong it will work no matter which are DDR2 or DDR3 even there's GDDR5 that will work with ur comp only differences between them is speed.

Be sure to check that ur computer will work with PCI-E x16 because if u dont have it then graphic card will not work so check that.

PCI-E x16 is slot just like battery plug vary in sizes.

there is about 4 slots thats on Market starting lowest to highest:

PCI

AGP

PCI-E x6

PCI-E x16
