I have a 256 or 512 mb video card?

i have a 8500gt 256mb ddr3 video card, but my sistem says that it have 512mb.For example in Gta 4 at graphics settings i normally had to have 250mg resource usage, insteed i have 490mb resource usage.So gta 4 work like i have a 512mb video card??It works fine at ``med-high``settings OS:winxp sp3|||Your system shows you the shared memory. It physically is 256MB's of ram, but the way DDR3 works makes it twice as much.
