579684-001 HP GeForce GTX 260 1.8GB DDR3 Video Card Fan Wire?

I bought a graphics card for my computer, and its an OEM for the Hp Pavilion Elite series (my computer isn't an Hp) . It came with a wire that the seller said was for fan power. It plugs into the card but not into my motherboard. The card is working w/o the wire. My question is if that wire is important because the one visible fan is spinning w/o it. Not sure if there is another inside or something.

here is the place I bought it.

Otherwise, you'll have to make your own power connector. You can get regulated voltage and power from an existing Molex connector. Next, create an adapter by purchasing a Molex extender and an attachment to your fan wire. Strip the ends and hook positive to positive and negative to negative. Ensure that you know which way the fan is supposed to be blowing to check your work when you're finished. Find out what the voltage is for the fan. You might have to use an extra resister and voltage regulator to step the voltage down, but at least you'll have a running fan.
