DDR3 video card question?

I'm looking to get my friend a video card and I'm not sure what mobo he has or Video card he has in it but i know his current video card is slow. . will it damage his pc if i put the wrong DDR in it?|||Why are you mixing RAM and GFX together????

Graphics Cards Have inbuilt Memory and have nothing to do with system speeds. My PC has DDR3 Ram while my Graphics card has GDDR5 Ram.

All you need to know is if the PCI-E is x16 or x4 or x1.

If its x16 and you have a good Power Supply, then go ahead and get him a new card.|||You need to know the specs of his machine before you jump into buying a graphics card. Make sure his motherboard has a PCIEx16 slot. Then you will want to know what the power supply he has is capable of. Many of the newer higher performance cards require a 6pin PCIEx16 power connector, that connects to the card from the PSU. This gives the card 75 more watts of power to use. Then there are the cards that require 2 6pin and then there are cards that require an 8pin and 6pin combination.

Newer cards that doesn't require a bigger PSU are the 5550, 5570, 5650, 5750. All of which aren't really gaming cards, but will run most games at lower settings. Most of the Nvidia cards worth getting will require at least a 6pin connector. Nvidia offers more performance than ATI, but at the price of power usage and heat.

Any card worth buying is going to cost you a good chunk of change. A 460GTX will cost about $150 and you need a decent PSU to run it. A 5770 will cost a little less and not require as much power, but at the loss of a little graphics potential...|||With Video Cards, if you can plug it into the motherboard, it will work. You need to find out what Kind of slot it has for Graphics, AGP, PCI, PCI-E?

DDR3 is the latest RAM Memory. GDDR3 is a type of memory on a graphics card. Neither of them have anything to do with whether or not the video card will work with the Motherboard.|||No the ddr3 mentioned is dedicated to the graphics card only it doesnt matter what type of memory the motherboard uses you only have to ensure the motherboard has the right adapter ie AGP or Pcie depending on what your purchasing and also has the minimum required power supply for the graphics card|||no, the memory type on a graphics card only affects the card's performance, it has nothing to do with how your computer runs. Just make sure the socket type on the motherboard is the same as the one on your card, and make sure your power supply can handle it.|||GDDR3 GDDR5

1. Graphics speed shouldn't matter if the pc has the correct PCI-E Slot

What will matter is Power Supply And other specs

like Ram Hard Drive Space Processor.

Check Requirements for power supply. Of Graphics Card

And All Specs
